The variety is intended for olive oil production and table olive processing. The main cultivation areas in Portugal include the municipalities of Campo Maior, Elvas, and Idanha-a-Nova.
The plant is characterized as quite productive when using vigorous rootstock. Fruit weight is 3.5–5 g, pit weight is 0.45–0.7 g. The fruits have medium resistance to detachment from the peduncle.
The variety is traditional for Portugal; genetic material samples were collected in the Castelo Branco district. The variety name may appear in literature as a synonym or close analogue of the Carrasquenha and Carraspana varieties.
