The variety originates from the Forlì-Cesena province. Historically, it was considered rare and was discovered in old plantings in the Carpineta area. The variety's genotype was preserved through propagation by cuttings after the mother tree was lost, and it is currently cultivated in experimental fields.
The plant is distinguished by medium productivity and high resistance to low temperatures, which allows for its cultivation in northern zones. The fruits ripen simultaneously and late. Genetic analysis confirmed the uniqueness of the variety, refuting its identity with the Carboncella variety.
The primary purpose of the variety is the production of high-quality olive oil. In modern Italian agronomy, this variety is used in new plantings in the Forlì-Cesena and Rimini provinces and is also the subject of a program for the conservation of local biodiversity.
