The variety has an ancient history, traceable to the time of Ancient Rome. Its distribution is concentrated primarily in the Nora River valley in the province of Pescara, including the communes of Carpineto della Nora, Civitella Casanova, Vicoli, and Civitaquana.

The oil obtained from the fruits of this variety is characterized by a medium intensity of fruity aroma with hints of mild fruit. Biochemical analysis of the oil composition shows the presence of tyrosol at a concentration of approximately 3,5 mg/kg.
