The name Nostrale is used as a synonym for a multitude of local olive varieties. In this regard, characteristics depend on the specific geographical form, such as Nostrale di Rigali, common in Umbria, or Ogliarola Barese (known as Olivo nostrale) from Apulia.
The Nostrale di Rigali variety has high growth vigor, is resistant to cold, but is sensitive to the olive fruit fly and fungal diseases. The Ogliarola Barese variety has an open crown, is resistant to peacock spot, but is sensitive to low temperatures and pests. Both varieties are oil-bearing.

Green indicates countries where the variety is listed in the national catalogue and its seeds are authorized for sale. Expired registrations are marked separately: the variety was previously admitted, but sale is no longer permitted.
