The variety is autochthonous to southwestern Sicily, where it has been cultivated for over two millennia. The trees are evergreen, and their height in cultivation typically does not exceed 3.5 meters. The plant is characterized by drought tolerance after the establishment period and the ability to adapt to various environmental conditions.
The fruits are large, spherical in shape, with firm, fleshy pulp and a favorable flesh-to-pit ratio. Ripening is late; harvesting ideally takes place in October. Table olives have a mild, slightly sweet taste and a crunchy texture. The olive oil has an intense fruity flavor with notes of green tomato, artichoke, and almond.
