The name NEVADO is used in scientific literature to designate the Olea europaea genotype of the Picual variety. In Spanish, the term can also have a descriptive meaning, characterizing trees covered in snow.

As a synonym for the Picual variety, this olive is intended primarily for oil production, which is characterized by high resistance to oxidation and a high oleic acid content. The trees are characterized by high productivity and early bearing.

The variety possesses good winter hardiness and high adaptability to various conditions, although it is sensitive to prolonged droughts and highly calcareous soils. This is a traditional Spanish variety, historically widespread in the Andalusia region.
