The Neral variety is an ancient local variety known in the Somontano region since the 19th century. Its fruits are suitable for both oil production and table use.
The tree has moderate rooting ability, is characterized by mid-season flowering and fruiting, and exhibits partial self-compatibility. The variety is resistant to drought and olive knot disease.
