The Nerba variety, also known as Nerba Catanese, is an old Sicilian variety for universal use. The fruits are distinguished by their size and high pulp content, which allows for fresh consumption or use for pressing olive oil with low acidity.
In agronomic studies, the variety is considered as a pollinator for other olive crops. The tree is considered sensitive to a number of pests, in particular, the olive fruit fly. The variety is often classified as a niche variety, preserved in old orchards, although its genetic identification is complicated by an abundance of synonyms in the regions of Italy.

Green indicates countries where the variety is listed in the national catalogue and its seeds are authorized for sale. Expired registrations are marked separately: the variety was previously admitted, but sale is no longer permitted.
