The name «Oliva Noce» in agronomic literature is considered a synonym for the well-known Italian table variety «Ascolana tenera». The use of the word «noce» in trade catalogs is also often due to linguistic confusion, where it may indicate the size of the fruit or refer to the Sicilian variety «Nocellara».
The «Ascolana tenera» tree has a moderately vertical growth habit and a voluminous crown. The leaves are elliptical and intensely green. Large, ellipsoidal fruits weighing 4–8 g ripen late and unevenly.
The variety enters production early, with average and stable productivity. The plant is self-sterile, possesses moderate cold resistance, and is highly susceptible to the olive fruit fly. The fruits are mainly used fresh and have an intermediate oil yield.
