Variety description

10 August 2026

The term Nostrana indicates the local origin of olives in Italian regions. Genetically different plants may be hidden under this name, and therefore it is important to consider the specific growing region when identifying them.

The most studied is the Nostrana di Brisighella variety, autochthonous to the Emilia-Romagna region. It is an oil variety adapted to the climate of the Apennine foothills and possesses high resistance to cold winters.

Oil from the Nostrana di Brisighella variety is distinguished by an intense fruity aroma with notes of artichoke, grass, and tomato, as well as pronounced bitterness and pungency. The product is characterized by a high polyphenol content.
