The name OGLIARA is regional in nature and serves as a synonym for local olive varieties. Most often, in the western part of Sicily, this name refers to the Cerasuola variety, although in other regions, such as Campania, it may refer to other local populations.

This olive variety is used primarily for olive oil production. Belonging to a specific local cultivation tradition makes it impossible to distinguish uniform morphological traits, as the characteristics of the plant depend directly on which specific variety is hidden under this local designation.
