The Offvert clone is a form of wild olive Olea europaea subsp. europaea var. sylvestris. This material is not intended for fruit or oil production and is not a commercial variety in the traditional sense.

The primary purpose of the clone is its use as a rootstock possessing high resistance to the pathogen Verticillium dahliae. Research confirms the ability of Offvert to limit the spread of infection in scion tissues through root system defense mechanisms.
