The variety is a collection of local ecotypes, such as Ogliarola Barese, Salentina, Messinese, and Garganica. The trees are characterized by medium vigor, an open canopy of medium density, and medium-sized elliptic-lanceolate leaves.

The fruits are of medium size and are suitable only for producing extra virgin olive oil, which is distinguished by a delicate fruity flavor with notes of almond, slight bitterness, and a spicy aftertaste. Harvesting takes place from October to December.

The yield of the variety is medium, with possible alternate bearing. Resistance to climatic factors and diseases varies depending on the specific ecotype: some types are more resistant to drought and cold, while others are susceptible to the olive fruit fly and fungal diseases.
