The Puntino variety is a late-ripening oil variety. Its fruits reach maturity closer to the beginning of winter. The variety demonstrates high yield potential, and the late harvest dates allow for obtaining oil with special chemical characteristics.
The plant belongs to the Tuscan olive gene pool. It is actively used in scientific research on flowering and floral bud differentiation processes, in particular for studying the timing of inflorescence formation, which begins no earlier than March. The variety is also used in breeding programs as a parental form.
