The Morchiaio tree has low vigor and an upright crown shape. Leaves are small, elliptic-lanceolate. Fruits are medium-sized, ovoid, slightly asymmetrical in shape, and turn purple-black upon ripening.
The variety belongs to the late-maturing category. The plant has good winter hardiness but shows sensitivity to peacock spot. Due to the high level of ovary abortion, reaching 68–80%, the productivity of the variety is very low, although the tree produces much high-quality pollen for pollinating other varieties.
Oil obtained from the fruits of this variety is distinguished by a pronounced bitterness in taste.
