The variety is also known by the names Galani, Strongylolia, Strongylorachati, and Milolia. Commercial cultivation is concentrated in the Halkidiki area, where the variety is a staple for local olive oil production.

The fruits are distinguished by their large size. When used as a table product, they are most often processed while green and unripe, maintaining a firm, crisp flesh texture.
