The fruits are characterized by a high pulp-to-pit ratio and contain a significant concentration of phenolic compounds, including oleuropein. The main distribution area of the variety is concentrated in the Alto Alentejo region in Portugal.
The plant bears fruit regularly and can be used for both table purposes and olive oil production. The ability for vegetative propagation by semi-hardwood cuttings is rated as medium. The fruits of this variety may be susceptible to olive fruit fly infestation, with the degree of attractiveness to the pest depending on fruit size.
