The variety is a historically established type characteristic of the Albères mountains terroir. The fruits of this variety have a spherical shape.

In production, Redouneil olives are used for oil manufacturing, imparting aromatic notes of tomato, artichoke, and dried fruits. The variety is often used in blends with other local varieties such as Olivière, Poumal, and Verdale.

The variety is of interest for genetic research into the mechanisms of self-incompatibility in olive trees, which is significant for planning agrotechnical measures for pollination.
