The variety is known by the names Morrut or Morruda, with Regués being one of its synonyms. It originates from the Els Reguers area in the province of Tarragona. The trees are distinguished by a slow entry into the bearing period and a tendency towards alternate bearing.

The fruits have a characteristic morphological feature in the form of a pronounced tip at the apex. Oil from olives of this variety has a fruity taste with notes of almond and green apple, as well as light bitterness and piquancy. The variety is often used in blends with other local varieties.
