The variety is native to the island of Sardinia and was developed through folk selection. It is genetically close to other Sardinian varieties such as Confetto, Manna, Maiorca, and Nera di Gonnos, and some names may be synonyms of this variety.
The fruits of the variety are primarily used fresh or for processing, but they can also be used for oil extraction. The plant is characterized by intermediate productivity and a susceptibility to the pest Bactrocera oleae, which is typical for large-fruited table varieties.

Green indicates countries where the variety is listed in the national catalogue and its seeds are authorized for sale. Expired registrations are marked separately: the variety was previously admitted, but sale is no longer permitted.
