The Polto variety belongs to the mid-season group of Panicum miliaceum. It stands out as a widely adapted genotype possessing high indices of homeostaticity and agrostability, which allows it to form a stable yield under various production conditions.

The variety is intended for food use and is actively used in seed production for the reproduction of pre-basic seed material. Breeding work on the variety continues, in particular, in the direction of increasing its resistance to diseases such as smut and melanosis.
