Deciduous shrub with a dense, compact crown and arching shoots, reaching a height of 0.8 to 1.5 meters. Young leaves and shoots have a garnet-red color upon opening, which becomes purple-violet or almost black with age, and acquires orange-red tones in autumn.
Flowering occurs in May–June with small white or pinkish-white flowers gathered in corymbose inflorescences, followed by the formation of decorative red follicles. Adult plants feature peeling bark, which maintains aesthetic appeal in winter.
The variety is characterized by a moderate growth rate with an annual increment of about 30–40 cm and high winter hardiness down to -35 °C. The plant is hardy, adapts to various types of urban soils, and is suitable for solitary plantings, group plantings, hedges, and container cultivation.
