The shrub is characterized by a compact habit and reaches a height of 1.2–2 m. The shoots have a distinct burgundy-black color. A key feature is the purple-black, almost black shade of the foliage.
Flowering occurs in June with dense corymbose inflorescences with pinkish-white flowers. The fruits are reddish follicles. The variety adapts well to urban conditions and various soil types, including heavy clay soils.
