The shrub forms a dense, heavily branched crown with a height of 1.5 to 2.5–3 meters. The leaves are smaller than those of the species, deeply dissected and serrated along the edge, retaining a mahogany shade throughout the season.
From May to July, the bush is covered with corymbose inflorescences of small white or pinkish flowers, followed by the formation of red follicle fruits. The plant prefers sunny areas, adapts well to various soil types, and withstands temperature drops down to -30°C.
