The Érdi korai variety was bred in Hungary at the Research Institute for Fruitgrowing and Ornamentals in Érd. Genetically, it is a hybrid of the varieties Érdi bőtermő and Meteor korai, also known by the breeding number IV-3/48.
The fruits ripen early, approximately from June 3 to June 20, depending on the climatic conditions of the region. In the chemical composition of the fruits, the content of soluble solids is approximately 13.84%.
In cultivation, the plant is often grafted onto the Prunus mahaleb rootstock. The variety is used in breeding programs and comparative trials to evaluate the physicochemical properties of the fruits.
