The tree is characterized by large size and an upright, dense crown that requires regular pruning. The variety is late-flowering and late-maturing; the crop is harvested in late September or early October after the Nonpareil variety.
The nuts have a semi-hard shell, and the kernels are characterized by a small size, a dark shade, and an earthy flavor with a slight bitterness. The variety shows high tolerance to saline soils and is suitable for mechanical harvesting.
The plant is self-incompatible and requires cross-pollination, which is why it is often planted in industrial orchards paired with the Butte variety. The fruits are widely used in processing for confectionery products, particularly in the production of chocolate products.
