Pajarera is an old autochthonous almond variety represented in genetic collections, in particular at CEBAS-CSIC farms. The fruits of this variety belong to the sweet almond category and are intended for table consumption.
The variety is being researched for self-incompatibility, classified by S-locus alleles. Scientific work is also underway to evaluate the content of cyanogenic glycosides in the kernels and to study the variety's resistance to the fungus Aspergillus flavus.
