The variety was discovered in the 1840s in France. The tree is characterized by vigorous growth and a tendency for late flowering. Fruits are large, broadly shaped, with smooth greenish-yellow skin, often featuring a red blush and patches of russeting.

The fruit flesh is juicy, melting, with a pronounced aroma. The variety is self-sterile and requires the presence of pollinators, with yields rated as unpredictable. The fruits have delicate skin, are sensitive to damage, and require careful handling.

Harvesting is carried out in mid-to-late October; the fruits are ready for consumption in November and can be stored in cool conditions until February. The variety is susceptible to scab and fire blight, and is intended primarily for fresh consumption.
