In official registers, the variety Gilains Butterbirne (or Ghelins Butterbirne) is listed as recognized, however, detailed agronomic descriptions for it are absent in open sources. There is a high probability of confusion with the variety Gellerts Butterbirne (synonym Beurré Hardy).

The tree of the variety Gellerts Butterbirne is vigorous, with a powerful spreading crown and dark green curved leaves. Fruits weighing 130–200 g have an obtuse-conical shape, thin greenish-yellow skin with a bronze blush and russeting.

The flesh of the fruits is yellowish-white, melting, juicy and aromatic. The variety is an autumn one, ripening in early September and requiring cross-pollination with such varieties as Clapps Liebling, Gute Luise or Williams Christ. The culture is sensitive to leaf scorch.
