The variety belongs to autumn pears; the fruits ripen in early September. The fruits possess high taste qualities characteristic of the butter pear group, which is reflected in the regional name Maslenka.

This variety is a traditional European variety used in both commercial and amateur orchards. It is also used as a pollinator for other pear varieties.
