The variety has synonyms Beurré d'Hardenpont, Glou-Morceau, and Kronprinz Ferdinand von Österreich. Fruits ripen for harvest in early October, consumer maturity occurs from December to January, and storage in a refrigerator is possible until April.
The plant is vigorous, the onset of fruiting is early, but yields can be unstable due to fruit drop. The variety is susceptible to scab and requires nutrient-rich soils and warm climatic conditions for successful cultivation.
