The name Ovesnice refers to traditional folk varieties whose names were historically associated with periods of agricultural work, in particular the oat harvest. The variety is not the result of directed breeding and represents a part of the local cultural heritage.

This group belongs to summer pear varieties. Precise agronomic characteristics, such as tree height or disease resistance, are not recorded in publications. Trees of this variety are still encountered as aged specimens.
