The variety is also known by the names Frankelbacher Mostbirne or Frankelbacher Weinbirne. Its name originates from the Orsborn area, where the oldest mother tree, destroyed in 1953, was located. Since the late 1990s, the variety has been reintroduced into cultivation for the conservation of biodiversity.

The fruits have a mass of 40–80 g, a shape ranging from round to conical, and a light yellow color with a brownish-red blush. The skin is smooth and dry. The variety is considered a perry pear, unsuitable for fresh consumption due to its specific taste, but valuable for processing.
