The SPINA variety (also known as Spina di Carpi) belongs to winter pears. Trees of this variety possess significant vigor and longevity, however, they have high requirements for heat, climatic conditions, and soil fertility.

The fruits are large in size and have significant specific weight, are well-retained on branches, and are resistant to wind-induced fruit drop. The variety shows resistance to pear psylla, however, under conditions of excessive humidity and lack of light, the fruits may be susceptible to scab.
