The variety originated in Belgium around 1820. Detailed morphological characteristics, such as plant height or disease resistance, are absent in specialized literature. The variety is more often mentioned in pomological records as an object with which other pear varieties, such as the Forelle variety, are sometimes mistakenly confused.

The variety name indicates its belonging to the group of butter pears, which characterizes the tender and melting consistency of the fruits. At the present time, reliable data on the agrotechnical qualities of the variety are not presented in open sources.
