The variety was obtained in Belgium in the city of Leuven around 1820 by breeder M. Sterkmans; a connection with the work of breeder Van Mons is also noted.

Specialized agronomic descriptions, such as disease resistance indicators or precise morphological characteristics of the plant, are absent in open sources. Detailed data on productivity and fruit characteristics have not been recorded.
