The variety is a decorative shrub belonging to the elepidote rhododendron group. Funnel-shaped flowers measuring 50 by 70 mm have five petals with a wavy edge and are gathered in conical inflorescences of 8–12 pieces.
The flower color when opening is white, while the buds have a lilac tint. The plant is used in landscape design for creating group plantings and as a specimen plant, available for purchase in container culture.
