In horticultural practice, other plants are often encountered under the name «Dolly», which creates confusion during identification. These include the Rhododendron simsii «Dolly» variety, which is an indoor or greenhouse plant with semi-double pink-lilac flowers with a white border.
Under the same name, a panicle hydrangea (Hydrangea paniculata) «Dolly» is often sold, which possesses different characteristics, such as cone-shaped inflorescences and frost resistance down to -29 °C.
