The variety is the result of crossing Rhododendron catawbiense 'Catawbiense Grandiflorum' and Rhododendron 'Purple Splendour'. The plant forms a wide, branched bush, which reaches a height of 2 meters and a width of 3 meters at the age of twenty years.
Flowering occurs from late May to early June. The flowers have a dark lilac or purple shade, with a pronounced dark pattern on the upper petals. The variety is characterized by good winter hardiness and is intended for ornamental gardening.
