The variety was created based on Rhododendron smirnowii seedlings obtained through open pollination. The plant forms a symmetrical, dense, and compact shrub, reaching a height of 2 meters and a width of 2.2 meters at the age of 20 years.
Flowering of the variety occurs in the second half of May. The plant possesses good winter hardiness and is recommended for cultivation in the coastal zones of the Baltic Sea and the Gulf of Riga, as well as in the central regions of Latvia.
The variety is used in ornamental gardening and in breeding work as a parent form for creating new varieties.
