Variety description

The variety is a dwarf shrub with a slow growth rate, forming a dense, squat crown of cushion-like or hemispherical shape. By the age of ten, the plant reaches a height of 30–70 cm and a width of 50–80 cm.
The small leathery leaves are dark green in summer and acquire a bronze-brown or reddish hue during the autumn-winter period. Bright carmine-red funnel-shaped flowers with a diameter of 4–5.5 cm bloom from mid-May to early June.
The plant is frost-hardy down to -22°C. The variety prefers semi-shaded areas with acidic, humus-rich, well-drained soils, tolerates pruning well, and is suitable for cultivation in containers, rock gardens, and heath gardens.
