The variety «Toms» was bred at the «Babīte» nursery of the University of Latvia. It belongs to the category of evergreen rhododendrons.
During the development of the variety, primary attention was paid to winter hardiness and the plant's adaptation to the climatic conditions of Latvia. Detailed morphological characteristics, such as bush height or inflorescence parameters, are not detailed in open scientific publications.
