The variety is a deciduous shrub belonging to the azalea group. It was obtained in 1978 as a result of breeding work by Professor Rihards Kondratovičs.

The plant is intended for cultivation in open field as an ornamental element of landscape design. The variety possesses winter hardiness corresponding to the climatic conditions of Latvia.
