The evergreen shrub reaches a height of about 2 m and a width of up to 2.5 m at the age of 20 years. The leaves have an oval-ovate shape, a smooth shiny surface without pubescence, reaching 130 mm in length and 60 mm in width.
The flowers are funnel-shaped, about 90 mm in diameter, with a lilac color: the inner part is light lilac, the outer part is bright reddish-lilac. There is a pattern of dark greenish-yellow dots on the upper petal. The inflorescences are cone-shaped and include about 15 flowers.
The flowering period falls at the end of May to the first half of June. The variety was obtained from open-pollinated seedlings of Catawbiense Grandiflorum and has good winter hardiness.
