The Gletscher variety belongs to the subspecies Triticum aestivum L. subsp. spelta and is oriented toward use in organic agriculture. The plant possesses good lodging resistance, surpassing many conventional varieties in this indicator.

The variety demonstrates exceptional resistance to brown rust and yellow rust of wheat. During variety testing, Gletscher showed stable agronomic characteristics and a high flour yield.
