The variety is a hybrid bred at the University of Wisconsin (USA) under the number 196-5 based on Ulmus pumila seeds collected in Volgograd. Genetically, it is a hybrid of the Siberian elm and the field elm.
The plant forms a straight trunk and a rounded crown. The elliptical leaves with a pointed tip have dimensions of 6–12 cm in length and 3–6.5 cm in width; the leaf blade edges are characterized by double but blunt serration.
The variety possesses moderate resistance to Dutch elm disease, showing lower susceptibility during trials compared to Ulmus glabra and Ulmus carpinifolia species. Data on the height of the adult plant and maturity group are absent.
