Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety was obtained in 1983 by crossing Cabernet Sauvignon and Bronner. Genetically, the variety includes genes of Vitis amurensis, Vitis lincecumii, Vitis rupestris, and Vitis vinifera. The bushes have moderate vigor and good vine ripening. Frost resistance is about -22°C, and full ripening requires a sum of active temperatures of about 2700°C.

Leaves are medium-sized, five-lobed, deeply dissected, and glossy. Bunches are medium-sized, cylindrical, and loose, which contributes to resistance to grey mold. Berries are medium-sized, round, dark blue, almost black, with thin skin and juicy flesh. The variety is characterized by high resistance to oidium and downy mildew.

It is used to create powerful red wines with a pronounced tannin structure; it can be used both in varietal wines and in blends. In terms of color intensity and anthocyanin extraction characteristics, the variety is close to Pinot Noir.
