The variety has medium bud burst and ripening times. The plant is characterized by high vigor; fertility and productivity are rated as medium. Clusters are of medium size, compact, and very short. Berries are small, black-blue in color, round in shape, with firm and juicy non-pigmented pulp.

The variety possesses good resistance to downy mildew, but low resistance to botrytis and powdery mildew. It is sensitive to drought, wind, and sunburn. It adapts well to loose soils and is suitable for long pruning, provided that yield is controlled.

Wines made from Ferrón are distinguished by freshness, balance, pronounced acidity, and high polyphenol content, which allows for aging. The aromatic profile includes notes of red berries, herbs, and spices. It is used both in blends with Sousón, Brancellao, and Caíño Tinto varieties, and for the production of varietal wines.
