Gouais Blanc is an ancient wine grape variety of the Vitis vinifera L. species, originating from Central Europe. It was widely used in the Middle Ages for the production of simple white wines and currently has great genetic significance, as it is the ancestor of varieties such as Chardonnay, Riesling, Gamay, and Aligoté.

The vine is characterized by high vigor and a tendency toward high yield. The bunches of the variety are large, the medium-sized berries have a light green or yellow color and thin skin. The variety belongs to the mid-season category.

The plant has good resistance to winter frosts but is sensitive to fungal diseases, such as downy mildew, powdery mildew, and rot. Currently, the variety has practically disappeared from widespread commercial use and is found to a limited extent.
