Variety description

The variety is a hybrid of Petit Bouschet and Morrastel. The vine is characterized by high vigor and a semi-upright growth habit, early ripening, and very late budburst. Yields are high but can be irregular. The plant is sensitive to winter frosts and drought, and is susceptible to powdery mildew and, to a lesser extent, downy mildew.
Bunches are medium to large, cylindrical-conical in shape, and moderately compact. Berries are medium-sized, round, and black with an intense waxy bloom. The skin is thick, and the pulp is melting, juicy, and sugary in taste. The juice is intensely colored.
Wines from this variety are usually medium-bodied, with moderate acidity and soft tannins. The flavor profile includes notes of black berries, earthiness, and spicy undertones. The wines can have a low alcohol content and are prone to rapid aging.
